CKH SEMINAR 2000: DIVYA CHHABRA
The seminar with Divya Chhabra in Leuven was a big success. In only two days the
speaker managed to open up so many doors to a deeper understanding of the patient
and the art and science of homeopathy. As all real masters she insisted to demonstrate
methodology rather than give new remedies via rather grammar than vocabulary.
We all heard teachers say in the past. during the anamnesis. Don't think about
the remedy, just focus on the patient. Try to understand the patient in front
of you and let him or her unfold his or her state. Dr. Divya showed by stopping
the video what would have been the prescriptions after half an hour, one hour
or even one and a half hour of case-taking and how one tends to get stuck in
superficial or partial prescriptions. She demonstrated how we can trust the
patient to lead us to the correct remedy when we give enough time and patience.
How amazingly clear she showed the tree parts of the anamnesis, representing
the tree levels. The first being the history of the patient d representing the
conscious level, the second, subconscious level, where we can ask for feelings
and dreams which gives us a picture of the way the patient views himself and
the world and the third level representing the inner feeling or delusion. which
is unconscious, because awareness is cure.
During the first part we let the patient talk, in the second we can ask the patient
about the discussed subjects, but going deeper by asking for dreams and fears
while the third level can be explored by a method Divya developed and is known
in psycho-analysis as free association. Picking up the most important, the not-fitting,
the extreme or often repeated words and asking the patient to react by the first
word that comes up in his or her mind often solves the cases which never would
have been cleared otherwise. Divya showed cases where free association confirmed
and consolidated the information so far, which made prescriptions sure or gave
the missing parts of the puzzle. The next unique step Divya took after gaining
the information was writing all the important elements in a circle on the blackboard.
This represents the circle of expressions where-in the homeopath can put an
inner circle of deeper feelings, only by using the words of the patient. To
a careful listener the patients gives it all.
When we translate that information
into rubrics we must be sure to let the inner circle rubrics prevail. With that
clear and firm method all of a sudden analysis seemed a lot more simple and
leading to only a few possibilities, or to be more exact. to just one possibility.
the similimum or the one remedy that covers all the aspects of the case. This
was demonstrated in a very convincing way with the bar.-ars., the stront.-sulph.
and the calc.-iod. case. It was revealing to hear for the first time how to
know one has to deal with a compound remedy. Also it was very helpful for practitioners
to hear why sycotic cases can be so frustrating as they might take up to 3 years
to recover, while syphilitic cases-as they are in a desperate situation- spring
within 2 months just to go back quickly and then spring out again. These periods
become longer until after 4-5 years the state comes down. An even more clarifying
image of the halogens closed the first day.
The second day Divya had some more surprises for the audience. As she stressed again that provings are the core and basis for homeopathy, she conducted a proving on potencies with 2 well known remedies, because many aspects seemed unclear so far. The results were amazing. She gave the participants a valuable schedule to know what potency the patient need, right from his first words. She explained how the 30th and 200th potencies almost directly give the homeopath their feelings. The 200 potency reacts with the most common feelings: sadness and irritation. The 1M shows a lot of anger, uses the words 'very' and 'never' a lot and have a strong denial of their feelings while in 10 M it's very very and never never and they react by doing to others what others do to them. There is hate and retaliation and they get the feeling even without the situation. In 50M it's : everybody is out to get me , whatever it is. So often when a 1M doesn't work a 200 will do beautiful. When a patient says 'you' instead of 'I' talking about himself, it means he can't bear the feeling and that's 1M. The Lac.-d. case closed a very inspiring and stimulating seminar. Although so much was given in just those two days the enthusiastic public wanted more.
